Biography

Caroline Liou has 20 years of experience developing and implementing communication strategies with researchers and managing communication teams.

At the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Asia-Pacific Regional Center in Bangkok, she led the international media strategy for the UN Multi-Country Study on Men and Violence in Asia, and managed regional social media campaigns aimed at influencing social norms around violence against women and harmful masculinities.

At the Regional Community Forestry Training Center (RECOFTC) — The Center for People and Forests in Bangkok, she led regional communication capacity development initiatives and advocacy campaigns in partnership with the UN Food and Agriculture Organization. In Beijing, Caroline was World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) China’s first Communication Manager, growing WWF’s brand awareness in China through public relations strategies and media.

In her most recent role as Communication Manager at the University of Washington Department of Global Health, Caroline worked closely with faculty and staff on developing and implementing a range of communication strategies, including using social media for clinical trial recruitment, raising the visibility of student opportunities and achievements, and disseminating research findings among various audiences.

She has a Bachelor of Arts in history and journalism from Louisiana State University, and a Master of Arts in human rights from Mahidol University in Thailand.
