Biography

Marilou Hemenway has over 30 years of research administration, financial management, policy, and compliance experience from her time at Stanford University. She also recently worked as a consultant for the Family Health Care Nursing & Community Health Systems division at the University of California San Francisco’s School of Nursing. At UCSF, she provided services and leadership assistance with post-award administration, in developing and improving financial data models and resources.

Ms. Hemenway started as an accountant at the Stanford Synchrotron Radiation Laboratory, and then moved on to be the business manager in the Division of Immunology and Rheumatology at Stanford’s School of Medicine, managing the research administration, clinical operations, and teaching operations.

Ms. Hemenway worked in various central administration offices at Stanford, and worked to a directorship in the Office of Research Administration. During her career in central administration, she gained experience in research administration from cradle to grave, financial management, budgeting, forecasting, policy decision-making, compliance, and systems implementation, and in spearheading initiatives from inception to completion to drive improvement.
