SONNET is a national network of applied researchers who help design, evaluate, and implement effective social health interventions to improve member health across Kaiser Permanente. SONNET's work is made possible with funding from KP's National Community Health Program.
Kaiser Permanente has prioritized reducing the digital divide for its most vulnerable members. The intervention focuses on individuals experiencing a digital divide who are issued a TracFone device, or a SIM card to use with their current device, to support their interactions with KP. TracFone Wireless is part of government-supported program that provides free or discounted telephones, text, and data services for low-income households. Dr. Grant and his team are designing an evaluation that will begin in 2022 to assess this intervention’s effect on health care access.
